Traffic on a Freeway

Share With Care

Each year, more than 5,000 people are killed and 140,000 injured in car/truck crashes on the nation’s highways. AAA works with federal, state and local government agencies, the trucking industry and safety organizations to promote safe driving practices and reduce crash and fatality rates for all modes of transportation.

AAA developed the national safety awareness campaign, Share with Care, in conjunction with the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety. The Foundation sponsors and collects driver safety research to identify ways to reduce crashes involving cars and trucks.

The most common mistakes drivers make include:

  • Failure to keep in lane or running off the road.
  • Failure to yield the right of way.
  • Driving too fast for conditions or above speed limit.
  • Failure to obey signs and signals.
  • Inattention.

Practical advice to drivers is available in the brochure, Share with Care: Sharing the Road Safely, which is available from your AAA office.
