AAA CarFit

AAA continues to introduce new programs to meet the needs of the traveling public. Here are a few of AAA’s commitments:

  • Ford/AAA Auto Skills Competition. This high school program encourages the next generation of skilled mechanics.
  • AAA School Safety Patrol. This school-based program protects student-pedestrians and educates them about traffic safety.
  • Child safety seat checks help parents ensure their children are protected as passengers.
  • Tow to Go partnerships operate during holidays to take drunk drivers off the road and get them (and their vehicles) home safely.
  • AAA provides resources to support Senior mobility such as CarFit, RoadWise, the Web site and driver education classes.
  • AAA provides resources to support teen drivers such as Web site.

This nationwide scholarship opportunity encourages talented high school students to pursue careers as automotive service technicians.

Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills is a nationwide automotive technology competition for high school juniors and seniors interested in pursuing careers as automotive service technicians. Co-sponsored by AAA and Ford Motor Company, the annual competition is in its 63rd year of helping provide qualified automotive technicians, thereby improving the quality of auto repairs for AAA members in the future.

More than 10,000 high school juniors and seniors competed in the 2011 event, which featured a written exam and timed hands-on repair competition to “debug” Ford vehicles.

A record-high $12 million in scholarships were offered at both the state and national level last year.
